News articles supporting the case for low cost healthcare insurance and health cash plans

The postcode lottery in cancer care is showing that some patients wait 10 times longer than others for diagnostic tests in some parts of the country.

Data from NHS England has revealed that patients at some hospitals are waiting more than 13 weeks for tests which can diagnose cancer often with further delays of three weeks waiting for results.

The delays do vary across the country but three months for a chest x- ray and a further 3 and a half weeks for the results of MRI scans is quoted in extreme cases. The demand for diagnostic tests has increased by 40% over the past decade and the NHS has struggled to cope.

Access to tests for rapid diagnosis in cases where cancer is suspected is essential and Orchard Healthcare plans can help bring diagnosis forward to provide patients with more choice.
